As a development worker Patrick wants to make sure all adults have an equal chance at education. Patrick has worked in the community sector of Limerick for many years covering mental health and adult community education. He is passionate about raising the awareness of services available and has sat as Director of Limerick Mental Health Week for a number of years and Chairs the current Limerick LifeLong Learning Festival Organising Committee. Patrick also works with the Limerick Community Education Network and represents the LCEN on the Limerick PPN as Facilitator of the Secretariat. He holds an MA in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and has co-founded Evolve Mental Health, Limerick’s CBT clinic based in Castletroy.

Ellen Walsh Kerley
LCEN Development worker
Ellen Walsh Kerley is a Development Worker with the Limerick Community Education Network, a city-wide network that supports and promotes accessible, community-based adult education across Limerick. The network works collaboratively to ensure that all adults—particularly those experiencing social or economic barriers—have opportunities to engage in meaningful learning within their own communities.
With a strong background in women’s advocacy, Ellen is committed to amplifying underrepresented voices and supporting equality in both education and community participation. As a dedicated community activist, they are passionate about empowering individuals to return to or continue their educational journeys, recognising the transformative impact of lifelong learning on confidence, opportunity, and social inclusion.
Grounded in values of collaboration, empowerment, and learner-centred practice, Ellen works to create supportive pathways that enable individuals to reach their full potential and actively participate in their communities.
